Prebiotics/Inulin
gut_healthAlso known as: Inulin, Fructooligosaccharides (FOS), Oligofructose, Chicory Root Fiber
About
Selectively fermented fibers that support beneficial gut bacteria and short-chain fatty acid production. Meta-analyses of clinical trials demonstrate prebiotic supplementation may support healthy body weight and appetite regulation through the gut-brain axis.
How It Works
Selectively fermented by beneficial gut bacteria (Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus), producing short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) — particularly propionate and butyrate. SCFAs stimulate GLP-1 and PYY secretion from enteroendocrine L-cells, promoting satiety. Also reduce lipopolysaccharide (LPS) translocation by strengthening gut barrier, reducing metabolic endotoxemia associated with obesity.
