Taurine
protein_aminoAlso known as: 2-Aminoethanesulfonic Acid, L-Taurine
About
A conditionally essential sulfur amino acid that modulates bile acid conjugation, mitochondrial function, and brown adipose tissue thermogenesis. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of 25 clinical trials demonstrate taurine may support healthy body weight, blood sugar, and lipid levels.
How It Works
Conditionally essential sulfur amino acid that modulates bile acid conjugation (enhancing fat emulsification and absorption), supports mitochondrial function, and acts as an osmolyte in adipose tissue. Taurine supplementation upregulates PGC-1alpha and uncoupling proteins, increasing thermogenesis in brown adipose tissue. Also improves insulin sensitivity through activation of insulin receptor substrate-1.
